About Me

A reliable route toward what matters most

I'm Dr Obss Alademerin, an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, working with adults and young people online and in Leamington Spa. People usually find us when something feels stuck, anxiety that won't switch off, low mood that's outstayed its welcome, a life transition that's harder than expected, or relationships that keep snagging in the same places. Together we work toward a reliable route forward, one shaped around the life you actually want, that holds space for what's hard while keeping you moving toward what matters most.

My Story

My route into this work

I've always been drawn to understanding people at a human level, where someone has come from, what matters to them, what drives them, and what they're quietly passionate about.

That curiosity is what led me into psychology, and ultimately into clinical psychology: work that allows me to use evidence-based frameworks to make sense of complex human experiences at both an individual and a systemic level, in service of alleviating suffering and helping people move forward.

I'm from London and trained as a Clinical Psychologist in Birmingham, two cities full of breadth, both of which shaped how I think about people and context. Culture, environment, expectations, the unspoken rules people grow up around, all of it matters, and all of it shows up in the room.

Along the way, I learned to combine the practical, problem-focused tools of CBT with the flexibility of ACT and other third-wave approaches. More importantly, it taught me not just what to do, but how to think, when to move quickly, when to slow things right down, and how to bring it all together in a way that genuinely fits the person in front of me.

What I come back to, time and time again, is this: therapy asks something of you. It can be emotionally demanding, and it requires investment, of time, energy, and often money. But when the relationship feels right, and the work genuinely reflects who you are and what you've been through, it becomes something else. The work becomes a route forward to a life you both deserve and desire.

The name Reliable Routes comes from my first job as a paperboy. From the age of twelve, I walked the same route every day, early mornings and all weather. Looking back, it taught me something much bigger: that meaningful change is about consistency, showing up, again and again, and trusting the direction you're heading in.

Outside the therapy room, you'll usually find me out in nature, running, hiking, or walking my dog, alongside some form of strength or functional training, all of which keep me energised. I'm also on a slow (and at times questionable) culinary journey, learning that, much like therapy, progress isn't always linear, but if you stick with it, things do tend to come together in the end.

How We Work

Our approach to therapy

We draw on a few different evidence-based therapies — most often CBT, ACT, CFT (compassion-focused therapy), mindfulness-based approaches, and systemic thinking that keeps the wider picture (your relationships, family, and the contexts that shape you) in view. The modality changes depending on what you're bringing; the underlying approach stays the same. Warm, collaborative, and shaped around what matters to you. Therapy isn't about getting rid of every difficult thought or feeling — it's about getting your life moving in the direction you want it to go, even when some of those thoughts and feelings come along for the ride.

01

You set the pace

There's no race here. We work at a pace that feels manageable, and you stay in charge of what you bring into the room and when. Some weeks we'll go deeper; some weeks we'll catch our breath. Both count as the work.

02

Evidence-based, tailored to you

We use approaches with a strong research base — including CBT, ACT, CFT, mindfulness-based therapies, and systemic thinking — and adapt them to you, rather than asking you to fit a model. The aim is always something workable, not just something textbook.

03

The relationship is the work

Decades of research point to the same finding: the quality of the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of good outcomes. We take that seriously. That includes welcoming your feedback at any point — especially when something we've said hasn't landed the way we meant it.

04

Honest, with care

We'll tell you what we're noticing, what we think might help, and what sits outside our scope. You deserve a therapist who's straight with you — kindly, but without the polish.

05

Therapy that sees the whole of you

Your culture, identity, faith, family, and the contexts you live in are part of the picture, not a side-note. We try to bring curiosity rather than assumption, and to make space for parts of your experience that previous rooms may not have fully made room for. If something we've missed or got wrong matters to you, we want to hear it.

Questions you might have before reaching out

Starting therapy is a real step, and it's normal to want to know what you're walking into. Here are the questions we hear most often — answered honestly.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

There isn't one type of person therapy is "for." People usually come because something feels stuck, heavy, or out of step with how they want to be living — and that's reason enough. If you're unsure, the free 20-minute call is a low-pressure way to talk it through. Sometimes the answer is therapy with us; sometimes it's a different kind of support, and we'll be honest about which.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. We'll ask about what's brought you here, what you've tried before, and what you'd like to be different. You'll get a sense of how we work, and we'll start to shape what therapy together might look like. There's no expectation to share more than feels manageable in a first meeting.

How much does a session cost?

Sessions are £120 for 50 minutes, the same fee for online and in-person work. We also offer a comprehensive psychological assessment from £250 — a focused piece of work for when what you want is clarity rather than ongoing therapy, with a written assessment and formulation report afterwards. A small number of reduced-fee spaces are available too; if cost feels like a barrier, please get in touch before ruling therapy out — it's always worth asking. Full details on the Fees & Booking page.

How long will I need to be in therapy?

It depends — on what you're bringing, what you'd like from the work, and how things unfold once we begin. Some people find six to twelve sessions useful for a focused piece of work; others stay longer for something deeper or more complex. We'll review together at regular points, so the length of therapy is something you're shaping with us, not guessing at.

Is everything I share confidential?

Yes — with a few specific exceptions that we'll go through with you properly in our first session. These are the standard limits any clinical psychologist works to: situations involving serious risk to you or someone else, or certain legal requirements. Outside of those, what you bring stays between us.

What if we're not a good fit?

It happens, and it's useful information rather than a problem. If something isn't working, we'd much rather you tell us — sometimes we can adjust, and sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is point you toward a therapist who's a better match. Either way, your progress matters more than the referral.

Begin Your Journey

Reliable routes rarely run in a straight line

Therapy isn't always a tidy path — it winds, doubles back, and finds its shape as you go. The free, no-obligation 20-minute call is a chance to ask questions, get a feel for how we work, and decide together whether we're a good fit.
